Meet Aziz

About Me

I am a queer, trans, Arab-American (SWANA) and mixed-race. Inhabiting liminal spaces, borderlands and intersections of identity and experience has deeply shaped me as a person and I bring to this perspective to my therapeutic work. I believe in the importance of connecting to land, ancestors, and community as integral parts of healing from trauma and repairing attachment wounds.

Currently, I live in Mni Sota Makoce, also known as Minneapolis, MN. This land in tandem with my ancestral homelands are my most valued teachers and these relationships have fundamentally shaped my understanding of healing, both individually and collectively.

My Approach to Healing

My work is deeply relational and somatic, focusing on individuals, partners, and groups who have experienced a combination of developmental or relational trauma, intergenerational trauma, shock trauma, and systemic violence. I recognize the complexity of trauma and the diverse ways it manifests, and I hold the therapeutic relationship as central to healing work.

I understand that building trust and safety takes time, and I honor the pace at which each individual or group moves. Rituals are a foundational part of my practice—an essential way to hold space, create connection, and cultivate healing.

Whether you’re seeking to heal from specific traumas, restore connection to your body, or reclaim the parts your story that have been disrupted by trauma and oppression, I am here to support you.

Training, Licensure and Certifications

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), certified Somatic Experiencing™ Practitioner (SEP) and have completed additional somatics training through Kathy Kain’s Somatic Practice Institute focused on developmental and complex trauma as well as trauma oriented somatic touch. I use SE alongside other healing modalities and liberation-based frameworks. My work is heavily influenced by my studies and practices of astrology, plant medicine, and ancestral healing.  I am a certified Astrologer with Renee Sills of Embodied Astrology and have done extensive training and practice with Ancestral Medicine as well as learned from many other teachers related to ancestral healing and plant medicine.

I enjoy working with folks who are queer, trans, SWANA, racially mixed, BIPOC, living in diaspora, neuroexpansive as well as folks practicing non-monogamy and kink in their relationships.

I hold immense gratitude  to elders, colleagues and peers in my community who have been willing to collaborate with me and support my personal healing, professional growth as well as my capacity to offer healing work in a way that is aligned with community values.  My work has been heavily influenced by teachers Susan Raffo, Resmaa Menakem and Thea Lee and many other human and non human kin in my communities.
